Spurs Player Joins Team Ontario
RELEASE - The Nepean Hotspurs Soccer Club is pleased to announce that one of our players has been selected by the Ontario Soccer Association to join the Ontario U16G Provincial team. Laura Callender (Nepean Hotspurs Lightning U16G OYSL) was recently selected to join Ontario’s flagship U16 girl’s team.
“Laura’s dedication to the game, both on and off the field is incredible.” comments Lightning Head Coach Adam Knight (OSA Provincial “B” License). “We are very pleased to see Laura’s hard work recognized by the OSA.” said Nepean Hotspurs Club Head Coach Boris Bajagic (CSA National ‘A’ License). Coach Bajagic also noted that Laura’s success reflected a significant commitment by her family to Laura’s soccer career. Laura joins Hotspurs teammate, Kayla Jones, who was selected for Team Ontario during the summer. “The Nepean Hotspurs are extremely proud of the fact that five girls from our 2009 outdoor teams enjoyed success with Team Ontario this year,“ said NHSC President David Holder. He added that three of the girls won silver medals at the 2009 Canadian All-Star National Championship that was held in July. Mr. Holder added “Heading into our 40th anniversary season, it’s clear that our technical program provide players in Eastern Ontario with the opportunity to be seen by, and succeed in, North America leading soccer programs.” In order to ensure the best possible environment for our members, the Nepean Hotspurs strictly complies with OSA policies regarding coach certification and volunteer screening.
