Nepean Hotspurs SC Host Information Session: “Facts of U.S. Scholarships”

RELEASE - The Nepean Hotspurs Soccer Club (NHSC) in conjunction with the Hotspurs Girls and Boys STEP program will host an information session concerning U.S. scholarships at Algonquin College on January 7th, 2010. Our guest speakers for “Facts of U.S. Scholarships” will be Deesh Bhattal and Chantel Azevedo.

Deesh Bhattal has been traveling across Canada presenting his “Facts of U.S. Scholarships” lecture for the past 7 years. Working with clubs across Canada, as well as the Canadian Soccer Association, Deesh has been able to bring about significant change within the Canadian system related to the realities of achieving U.S. scholarships.

Chantel Azevedo, is currently attending Brevard College in North Carolina. As a current athlete, Chantel will speak about her experience in getting a scholarship, and discuss her first season at Brevard. She will be able to answer questions from parents and players regarding the requirements, process, and realities of being a top student athlete.

The presentation will cover:
* Facts on scholarships;
* Relevant financial information;
* Relevance of high school marks and overall GPA; and
* The scholarship process.

Both Deesh and Chantel will be available after the presentation to answer questions.

The Presentation will take place on January 7th at Algonquin College, Building T, Room 123 starting at 7:00pm and ending at approximately 9:00 pm.
