93 Boys Force travel to the Disney Soccer Showcase over the holidays

RELEASE - OSU is proud of the 1993 Boys Force team which represented the Club at the prestigious Disney Soccer Showcase the #1 Ranked College showcase in North America help in Orlando Florida.

The showcase, sponsored by the Chelsea Football Club, involved 208 teams and was attended by more than 700 US college coaches.

The Force tied their first game (0-0) to Jamestown Jammers Gold the # 3 Ranked team in North Carolina, and lost their second game (2-1) to Arlington Travel SC Premier 92, third ranked in Virginia.

Although their first two games were not true to form for this talented team, they did manage to end the tournament on a high note – defeating the Arkansas #1 Ranked team, Little Rock FC93 blue 1-0. This final game was played on the grounds of the Wide World of Sports Complex.

“ The boys garnered attention from college and university coaches who were impressed by the teams speed and skill” commented coach Russell Shaw. Coaches from both Division 1 and Division 2 programs expressed interest in six of our players”.

“This was a learning experience for our team and will be going back next year, knowing that we can compete at the highest level in front of over 700 College coaches said OSU G.M Jim Lianos”.

“Coaches have already committed to coming to Ottawa to have a closer look at our kids, which is a strong indication that our youth development program is producing the results we expect from our elite teams and players.”
