OSU Force 97 Boys - Crowned Ontario Indoor Cup Champions for 2010
RELEASE - The OSU Force 97 U13 Boys traveled to the Soccer Centre in Vaughan, Ontario eager to compete in the Ontario Indoor Cup Championships on January 30, 31.
After training hard all winter season, the team came out strong and well prepared to face teams from other Ontario districts. The opening game had the boys playing against a strong Ajax Spurs team but not strong enough to hold back the scoring power of the Force’s offense. With a decisive 6-1 win the boys were off to a great start. The boys continued their excellent style of play in the second match against the displaced Sault Cruzll Eagles sending them home with a 16-0 loss. The third game proved to be more of what the team expected from the Toronto area competition. The Brampton Blast came out very strong raising the level of play, but the Force’s defensive playing ability stepped up to the challenge and lead them to a nail biting 2-1 victory. On day two, the Force once again with its undeniable skills, scored a big win in the semi-final, defeating Erin Mills Storming Eagles 5-0. The U13 Boys Final started with a high level of intensity with both teams well matched, driven, and hungry for victory. The Force fought hard to overcome the challenges that the very tough and physical Dixie team presented. Through hard work and determination, OSU scored their first goal of the game on a give and go shot to the top corner, scored by Kristopher Twardek, assisted by Samuel Lowery. Dixie then responded with a goal, tying the game at the end of the first half. Both teams showed passion as they continued to push for the advantage. The hard work paid off for the Force with Charles Andrascik scoring the second goal to take the lead. Dixie kept challenging but OSU held their ground winning the Final Game 2-1 and taking hold of the title Provincial Champion. Throughout the tournament the boys remained focused, worked hard, and displayed many of the qualities that make up a championship team. The team and Head Coach Abraham Osman represented the OSU club very well and received many compliments from the spectators including opposing team’s parents and coaches. Congratulations to Coach Abe and our Force 97 boys on this wonderful accomplishment and a great start to the year! The Force 97 team for this event included Charles A., Dante C., Dario C., Sanchit G., Samuel L., Vana M., Christopher P., Zachary S., Kristopher T., Connor W. and also special thanks to Eric W. who joined our team as keeper.
