Aurora 95 Girls To Take On England’s Best
RELEASE - In a little less than a month from now, when the drudgery of training indoors has reached its zenith, the Aurora Stingers 95T2 girls’ team will get the chance to experience soccer (better known as football) where it is the national sport. Head Coach Louis Tonelli believes the girls are now of the age when it's time for them to experience more of the culture of the game. It's time for them to also learn about the traditions of soccer, the sport that means so much to them. It's time for them to go to England. On March 11, the team will depart Toronto for London, England. For many of them this will be a trip of a lifetime, the opportunity to play soccer in such a prestigious environment. The playing experience the team will enjoy will only be rivalled by the educational experience of being in one of the top soccer nations in the world. The Stingers have scheduled four games against very stiff opposition, academy teams of clubs known throughout the world: • Arsenal F.C. • West Ham United F.C. • Charlton Athletic F.C. • Queens Park Rangers F.C. Other trip highlights include a tour of Stamford Bridge (home of Chelsea F.C.); attendance at the Manchester City versus Fulham game; and a reception at the Canadian Embassy in London with the British High Commissioner (Canada’s Ambassador to Britain). The girls have worked very hard to raise money to offset the cost of the trip, and want to thank their parents, sponsors and the Aurora Youth Soccer Club for their generous support. Further trip updates, scores and photos will be available through the team’s website - www.aurorastingers1995g.com.
