Oshawa University enters first OUA soccer campaign this fall
(Wally Donaldson, Oshawa Express) - The makeup and skill set of coach Vaso Vujanovic, long regarded as an elite bench boss on both college and university levels, is well documented across the province and perhaps the country.
The longtime Oshawa resident and former semi-professional soccer athlete in Yugoslavia had mastered an uncanny record as a head skipper during his lengthy tenure at Durham College.
Indeed, Vujanovic carved out a stellar 128-35-7 record in 17 seasons with the men’s side and followed up in impressive fashion with a 119-37-11 record as head coach of the Lady Lords over 10 seasons. >>>

Former Ajax Storm player earns scholarship
(NewsDurhamRegion.com) - Northwestern State women's soccer head coach Jimmy Mitchell announced the signing of 10 players earlier this week, and former Ajax Storm player Ashlee Savona was one of them.
"This class is a very important one for our program," said Mitchell in a press release. "We lost seven seniors this past season, all that were very influential players for us. Anytime you lose that many players, it's vital that you replace them with not only good players but with good people."
Savona, a Mississauga native, is a product of St. Martins Separate School where she played on the Ontario provincial team in 2008, helping the squad to the Canadian national championship. >>>

Guelph’s Mitchell signs soccer scholarship with Louisville
(GuelphMercury.com) - Bishop Macdonell student Nicole Mitchell has signed a letter of intent to attend Louisville University on a soccer scholarship starting this fall.
Mitchell, who played for Canada at the under-17 World Cup in 2008 and trains with the national team’s development squad, said a couple of visits to Louisville sealed the deal.
“Over the past year I have had the opportunity to visit the University of Louisville on a couple of occasions. I was very impressed with what it had to offer both athletically and academically. The overall atmosphere of the school was great and the decision to attend Louisville became clear after meeting with the coaching staff and members of the academic faculty,” she said in a press release. >>>
(OUA) - From January 20-30 in Guatemala City, Arin King of the University of Toronto Varsity Blues is participating at the Confederation of North, Central American and Caribbean Association Football (CONCACAF) under-20 women's soccer championship as a member of Trinidad and Tobago's national soccer team
In her first year as a Varsity Blue, King (Pickering, Ont.) scored four goals and was named an OUA second team all-star. She helped Toronto finish second in the OUA East division and were the consolation champions in their first-ever appearance at the CIS national tournament.
"Arin is one of the leading young talents in our women's soccer program," said Blues head coach Eva Havaris. "This is a wonderful opportunity for her and this experience will assist her tremendously to grow as a player and future leader of our program. Her teammates and coaching staff are extremely proud of her and wish her the best in this tournament." >>>
