Canadian Soccer League to fight decertification
(CP) - The Canadian Soccer Association has removed its seal of approval from the Canadian Soccer League.
The CSA, the national governing body of soccer, says it is going ahead with the regional pro soccer league blueprint recommended in a recent report.
The semi-pro CSL calls the decision unfair, and says it will fight the move to have it decertified. And it says it is baffled by the decision because it is a regional league already in place.
The CSL says the decertification means it is still a member of the CSA — in good standing — but cannot play soccer as an affiliated league in Canada. >>>

CSA cuts ties with Canadian Soccer League
(Ben Rycroft, CBC) - Canada's soccer landscape has just suffered a seismic shift - and like most of the earthquakes that hit this country, it's one that few will have even noticed.
Less than five months after a CBC News report showed that an international match-fixing syndicate had set its sights on the Canadian Soccer League (CSL), CBC has learned that the Canadian Soccer Association has told the CSL it will no longer sanction the league.
Sources within the CSA, speaking on the condition of anonymity, confirmed that a number of factors had contributed to their decision to sever ties with the CSL -- including the admission the CSA isn't equipped to tackle the domestic match-fixing problem. >>>

Milltown FC parts ways with Canadian Soccer League
(Steve LeBlanc, Canadian Champion) - While its immediate future may be up in the air, Milltown FC isn’t going to vanish from the Ontario soccer scene.
President Dino Rossi offered that assurance this past weekend, in the wake of his club’s official departure from the Canadian Soccer League (CSL).
The split was made public Friday night, when it was announced by the league that both MFC and Hamilton Croatia had failed to meet the membership deadline and wouldn’t be part of the CSL for 2011.
Refusing to go into specifics, Rossi said simply that he decided not to sign on for another year — having just joined the league last summer — because his club and the CSL couldn’t agree to terms and conditions (both financial and otherwise) moving forward. >>>
(Ben Rycroft, Canadian Soccer News) - Canadian Soccer News has learned that Dominic DiGironimo has stepped down as the Canadian Soccer League commissioner effective immediately.
DiGironimo was not immediately available for comment but the news came as a shock to many within the CSL who considered him to have done an excellent job in the leadership role.
During his tenure the league experienced what many considered to be a high water mark for CSL competition and he was the driving force behind the push for expansion in Ontario, B.C. and Quebec. >>>
